This week has been full of ups and downs. We have had the huge high of seeing God bring our spring pledge drive to an end a full day before we had planned--unprecedented in the history of this ministry! It was an amazing ride, watching those calls come in and seeing the percentages rise faster than I had ever seen them. And hearing the stories of people whose lives have been impacted by our efforts was both humbling and exhilarating! God is doing great things and we get to be part of that!
On the other hand, there are always other things that can work against the joy that God is giving: interpersonal communications gone awry, friends going through a rough time, working to lose weight and not seeing it come off as quickly as you think it should...so many things! I have had to consciously remind myself several times this week to keep my eyes on the prize, whether work-related or personally. When I lose track of that, I tend to get bogged down with the day-to-day things that come up and discouragement sets in. I don't want to lose my joy!
So, I'm pressing toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus...keeping my eyes on that prize!

One of the perks of my job...
is that we get to rub shoulders with Christian music artists! At our employee banquet this year, Matthew West was our emcee/entertainment. He was awesome! He truly has a heart for our Savior and a heart for people. He was funny and his songs were a blessing, but it was great to hear his heart as he shared about his own journey.
How Great is Our God!
I am so blessed to have a job that is more than a job. It is a ministry, and almost everyone around me also has the ministry mindset. It's awesome to be able to freely talk about God and faith on a daily basis and know that no one will be reprimanded for it.
We are currently at the close of our spring pledge drive for K-LOVE. It has been an AMAZING journey as we have watched God working through His people to provide for His ministry.
I work with a team of people that love God and are not ashamed to let people know. But as humans, we all face challenges and can run out of "steam" sometimes. So it is my privilege to be able to send them daily encouragement during this time, just to help revive their spirits or give them added resolve to push on. My avenue this season has been to use songs, both the wonderful old hymns and the great new songs that we have today. One of my co-workers thought I should start my own website :-) and it made me think that I already have an avenue to share with others that I haven't been using.
So, I am going to share some of what I have been sending to my coworkers. It's been a great way to get great songs in my own head and keep them running through my mind throughout my days. Kinda helps keep my perspective from getting skewed. Here is today's post:

Can I hear some “hallelujahs?” What an exciting time this has been, watching God working through His people to bring them together for one cause and one passion. I love being on this ride with you!
One of my new favorite songs (I have a lot of them!) is given below. If we would have this in our hearts and minds all day every day, how would our lives be changed? He is God alone…doesn’t need us at all, but has CHOSEN us to be His children. What an awesome concept that the God of the universe chose to endure hardship and suffering because He wanted to have fellowship with broken, fragile humanity! And as I have been emphasizing lately with the kids I teach as well as our ladies’ fellowship, He did it all because He loves us. Let that soak in for awhile!
Psalm 86:9-10 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
You Are God Alone (Phillips, Craig and Dean)
You are not a God
Dependant on any mortal man
You are not a God
In need of anything we can give
By Your plan, that's just the way it is
[chorus]
You are God alone
From before time began
You were on Your throne
You are God alone
And right now
In the good times and bad
You are on Your throne
You are God alone
You're the only God
Whose power none can contend
You're the only God
Whose name and praise will never end
You're the only God
Who's worthy of everything we can give
You are God
And that's just the way it is
[chorus]
Unchangeable
Unshakable
Unstoppable
That's what You are
Praying that the unchangeable, unshakable, unstoppable God will give you His strength and peace today!

Prelude
So, after thinking about this for awhile, I finally decided to try my hand at blogging. I don't anticipate that it will be an every day thing, but hopefully I will get on here once in awhile and just see where my fingers take me. And just maybe I can post pictures so my far away family can keep up with what's going on in our lives. They are a huge part of the composition of my lifesong and I want them to be able to tune in now and then to hear the intricate harmonies and interludes that God is adding to it.
